Pokémon's creators alongside the Natural History Museum will launch a temporary store stocked with exclusive merchandise. The big draw, however, is a limited-edition Pikachu card, given as a gift with purchase at the pop-up. The store is scheduled from the physical location to online between late January and mid-April.

Author Yoshinari Yonehara and illustrator Chihiro Kinoshita each possess PhDs in animal behavior and ecology.

According to a company statement, some of the merchandise may also be available outside the museum walls. But, a wider release is slated for select retailers within the United Kingdom. Importantly, collectors cannot purchase this promo via the online Pokémon Center. Although reseller interest is a given, the setup suggests they will have a difficult time hoarding mass quantities this time around. If you're unable to attend, there is an alternative like fossil-themed display headed to Chicago later this year.

"All profits from purchases made in the museum store and from its online store, including these items, support the Natural History Museum’s charitable mission. That encompasses the research of 400 scientists who are scientific inquiry to discover answers to the global ecological crisis," the statement notes.
