Netflix Chooses Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed recently that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Bon Clay. This character can use their power to morph into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will play a interpretation of that role re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action series, unlike the source material and anime.
This performer will work alongside multiple new cast members set to bring the group to the screen, featuring leader Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who is also part of the ensemble as the ruler of Alabasta.
Though this character is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. With season 2 set to cover the Little Garden arc, this signals a notable change in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could suggest additional alterations to the story’s structure.
Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the character. In addition to their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.
Netflix's live-action One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its second season on March 10, 2026.
