Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
