Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning clash where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total 51 million viewers across the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% improvement over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game drew over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series drew over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the total American average reached over 16 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million viewers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
