Bullish Nancy insists he is not worried about being fired however supporters unleash anger following derby defeat.
Wilfried Nancy insisted he had no concerns about dismissal, claiming, “I believe we are really close to a turnaround,” even after moving dangerously close to being fired with a heavy setback against Rangers.
A Second-Half Meltdown Results in Derby Defeat
The home side were ahead the visitors at half-time but a collapse after the break allowed Danny Röhl’s team to pull level on points with the defending league title holders. Nancy, who was brought in from Columbus Crew, has now been in charge for six defeats in his first eight matches.
“There is unity with the board,” insisted Nancy.
Asked directly about the speculation, Nancy responded: “It’s not on my mind. My focus is on working out methods to aid my players to be good on details.
Protest Outside Parkhead
The fans displayed their anger – aimed at the hierarchy – in their hundreds outside the stadium. Club directors would be most likely to return to the former boss, who steered the club during a caretaker period previously, if the Frenchman were sacked.
“Wins and losses [that leads to pressure]. So this is the situation for the moment. But by saying this is the reality, it doesn’t mean that I am giving up. No. My point is we are really close, extremely close to turn things around.”

Nancy remains focused on the fact the side can perform strongly for a half at a time. Indeed, were it not for missed chances they might have been more than 1-0 up. “The performance had merit aside from the fact that we didn't take our chances,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but it's important to stay fair.
“The performance we had at stages was really, really, really high. That happened. I could not speak so positively if it was different. But that’s why, in terms of results, I said it's a repeating pattern. For that reason I believe we are nearly there to getting it right. Right now: the fine margins.”
“I saw plenty of positives that we did, like today again. However comes down to sustaining it. My message would change if I didn't believe it. That’s why I firmly believe we’re going to be able to turn things around.”
The Rangers Boss Outlook
Rangers manager played down talk of a championship push in spite of what appeared to be a huge result. “We take it game by game, then we can develop a challenge,” he said. “The confidence in the team is outstanding.”
