Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.
US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The skilled improv artist died at home in LA this Monday having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a announcement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
An Extensive Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, like:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared publicly.
The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his family.
